A track record of excellence delivered by sons of elite local sires out of fast U.S. mares underscored the urgency to secure a powerfully made Extreme Choice colt among three key purchases on the third day of the 2025 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
G1 heroes and subsequent stallions Russian Revolution (1st G1 The Galaxy, 1st G1 Oakleigh Plate) and Wild Ruler (1st G1 Moir Stakes) frank the template, as does the club’s former graduate Zululand (G2 VRC Sires Produce Stakes) who was raced in partnership with Coolmore.
The Extreme Choice x Mrs Ramona G colt will race in the China Horse Club’s red and yellow silks for the China Horse Club / Newgate Farm and Partners Syndicate as will a further two purchases secured yesterday, a Snitzel x Lagertha colt and a Snitzel x Medaglia Valore colt,

“We know how good Extreme Choice is and we thought this was an excellent physical by the stallion out of a fast American mare,” said China Horse Club’s Michael Smith.
“I think they’re usually very tough, quick horses, great constitutions, and it just works. This colt was a really lovely moving, athletic horse with plenty of strength. Probably more strength than is typical for an Extreme Choice.
“Horses like Russian Revolutions, Wild Ruler, In The Congo, Captivant, Artorius, Stay Inside, we’ve raced a lot of good colts in partnerships and hopefully this can be the next one.”
The trio of Day 3 purchases has elevated the China Horse Club / Newgate Farm and partners syndicate to 10 purchases in all with a day still to run at the auction.
