Qin Yong, China’s history making jockey, has again franked his capabilities with another win in Barbados earlier today. The win aboard Double Noble in The Queen’s Park Handicap (1570m) ended a run of placings in recent weeks for the ever smiling Qin Yong and reinforced the assessment that the premier riders from Mainland China can measure up in new regions.

“I am very happy with today’s win. It was important to win again and I hope people back in China are happy with this result,” Qin Yong said later in the day.

“I have to thank the trainer, Mr [John] Chandler for giving me the ride and for the support of the Barbados Turf Club and all of those who are supporting Chen Li and me.”

The internationally performed rider is expected to return home to compete at the 2016 CECF Ordos which will be officially launched in the coming weeks. His ongoing success in Barbados further heightens the appeal of the CECF which has growing international footprint.

Qin Yong is believed to have become the first jockey from Mainland China to win a thoroughbred race outside of Asia when he scored at the Sandy Lane Gold Cup meeting, the highest profile race day in the Caribbean, in March.

His victory aboard Jonn Three Sixteen came in front of the country’s President His Excellency Freundel Stuart as well as an international audience and media who were drawn to the island by the Sandy Lane Gold Cup.

“Qin Yong did himself, his family and the Chinese thoroughbred industry proud when he won on Jonn Three Sixteen earlier this year,” said Teo Ah Khing, Chairman of the China Horse Club.

“And he has done everyone proud once again with this win. He is a wonderful ambassador for the industry in China and hopefully he will inspire others to look to go racing to the world.”
