The reenergized stayer Auvray has closed out an exceptional week of results for the China Horse Club and its members with his group win the feature among eight winners in seven days as well as a G1 second for champion filly Abel Tasman.

Auvray’s gritty win in the AUD150,000 G3 Colin Stephens Quality (2400m) was one of four triumphs in as many days in Australia with a further four successes being mirrored in the US.

“It has been an imperious performance from our racing teams in Australia and the US. What is encouraging is that these performers are all at different stages of their careers and they are winning and progressing which is vital to what our members want to achieve,” said Michael Wallace, Head of Bloodstock and Racing for the China Horse Club.
“It is also important to remember that our performers are making it to the elite level. Over the weekend we had an interest in seven performers that contested group races. Abel Tasman showed tremendous fight when second in the G1 Cotillion in the US, Assimilate was phenomenal coming from last in the G1 Golden Rose in Australia and Mime is also on track for her major goal for the spring after running 5th in a G1.
“It is also rewarding to see Auvray starting to deliver on the talent he has long promised. In his last three starts he has posted two wins and a close second. Hopefully he can earn his way into some of the bigger races this spring. It is also encouraging to see the emergence of some of the performers that are earlier in their career starting to step up and an example of that is Bullet Shot.”
Auvray is expected to take his place in the AUD500,000 St. Leger on Everest Race Day in Sydney. A strong performance would warrant him pressing on to Melbourne for some lucrative staying events and add his weight to a phalanx of elite international performers contesting major events over the next two months.
Russian Revolution (Australia) is set to be the club’s next performer tackling a feature event when lining up in this Friday’s AUD500,000 G1 Moir Stakes (1000m), the following day Bondi (AUD150,000 Listed Breeders’ Plate) and Galina (AUD150,000 Gimcrack Stakes) are expected to become the first of the club’s new batch of two-year-old’s to kickstart the new season. Stablemates Assimilate (Australia), Invader (Australia), Mime (New Zealand), Abel Tasman (USA), Good Samaritan (USA), American Anthem (USA) are expected to contest feature events in the coming weeks as well.
