A week after its American breeding and sales division burst into action for the new yearling auction season with a USD650,000 sales result, its European counterpart has followed suit with an equally significant return.
After two days of trading China Horse Club’s European arm has sold each of its two yearlings listed for the 2022 Arqana August Yearling Sale with a Siyouni x Sapa Inca colt entrenched among the top 10 sales to date having been knocked down for €580,000.

“China Horse Club has some exceptional yearlings to sell across major sales in Europe this season and to secure a result like the Siyouni x Sapa Inca colt, the first lot to sell for 2022, is very exciting,” said Matt Houldsworth, China Horse Club’s European Representative.
“He has always been a classy colt with presence and with his depth of pedigree he was always going to be in demand. We are delighted he has been secured by the Coolmore team and Peter Brant and we wish them every success.”
That the Siyouni x Sapa Inca colt was knocked down to Oceanic Bloodstock on behalf of Coolmore’s MV Magnier and Peter Brant’s White Birch Farm isn’t a surprising one. The colt heralds from a family Coolmore knows exceptionally well having built it up in partnership with China Horse Club over the last decade.
The Siyouni colt’s dam, the stakes winning Sapa Inca, is a sister to Johannes Vermeer (1st G1 Criterium International) and Elizabeth Browning (G2 Kilboy Estate Stakes) who were bred and raced in partnership by Coolmore and China Horse Club.
China Horse Club’s European division has 20 yearlings listed across major auctions this season by a spectrum of elite stallions including the above mentioned Siyouni, boom sire New Bay and proven commodity Dark Angel.
