China Horse Club made its presence felt at its inaugural participation in the 2024 Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale selling a yearling among the top 10 highest priced individuals and being active on the buyers list.

It’s CHC branded Zoustar x Clear Ripples colt was an in demand commodity before being knocked down to South Australian trainer Lloyd Kennewell and Group 1 Bloodstock for AUD200,000. Its Russian Revolution x Penang colt was also sold, trading for AUD85,000 – a mark above the median for the day at AUD80,000.

This year’s sale was positioned as a learning experience for future endeavours that including supporting locally based sire and former colour bearer Marine One. To that end, the results were certainly positive.

The Club also flexed its muscle when securing the leading colt on the opening day of trading as well as a striking filly by the state’s outstanding sire, Playing God.

China Horse Club secured a striking Brazen Beau x Burgoyne colt in partnership with local trainers Grant and Alana Williams and bloodstock agent Suman Hedge. The colt traces to one of Godolphin’s notable families with close relations including former millionaire sprinters Zapateo, Osborne Bulls and Viridine.

“We thought he was the best colt in the sale,” Grant Williams said after securing the colt.

“We went to Sydney last week [for the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale] and I don’t think we saw one as good as that. He’s got a beautiful body – nice and strong – good attitude. He ticked all of our boxes.”
