Just The Judge’s Dubawi filly set a new record when selling for €1,000,000 at the Arqana Breeding Stock Sale
A filly foal by former champion racehorse Just The Judge lit up the Arqana sales ring in France before finally falling to the bid of Godolphin’s agent Anthony Stroud at €1,000,000.
The result was a record price for a foal at Arqana and again demonstrated the growing appeal of the China Horse Club’s international breeding programme. The club has now sold sales topping thoroughbreds at auctions in France, Ireland, Great Britain and New Zealand over the last three seasons.
Stroud was emphatic in his praise of the Qatar Racing and China Horse Club bred filly post sale: “What can you say – there’s everything to like about her. She is a beautiful filly with a gorgeous page and has as much potential on the track as in the paddock in the longer term. She will go to the UK and ultimately be trained by one of Godolphin’s trainers.”
The first two foals of Just The Judge have both returned weighty price tags with her first foal (a colt) selling as a yearling earlier this season for €1,400,000. Just The Judge was covered by champion sire Galileo earlier this season.
Just The Judge is a foundation mare for the China Horse Club’s European division and is owned in partnership with Sheikh Fahad’s Qatar Bloodstock. The two-time G1 winner was among the best of her generation, annexing the G1 Irish 1000 Guineas as a three-year-old and the G1 E.P. Taylor Stakes in Canada the following season as well as placing in four other G1 contests.
