First Precinct(no 5)
Another week. Another winner. First Precinct, who saluted in effortless fashion earlier in the month, backed up that sterling performance with an equally determined display in Australia today. The lightly raced three-year-old is progressing through the grades in encouraging fashion and remains undefeated in 2016.
“First Precinct is starting to deliver on the promise we hoped he had,” said Teo Ah Khing, Chairman of the China Horse Club.
“Early in his career he was tried over longer distances but he is showing a lot more speed this preparation and that is proving to be the difference. He showed courage to push between runners at the top of the straight and was then strong all the way to the line. Hopefully he can continue on his winning run.”
First Precinct was kept in a stalking position through the early stages of the Majestic Cinema Group Class 2 Handicap (1200m) before moving into the race rounding the corner, bursting between the leaders and holding off the late surge of runner up Tenorino.
The Hawkes Racing trained First Precinct became the 23rd winner for the China Horse Club in 2016.
