The sale of all five yearlings tabled for offer was one of a series of notables the China Horse Club can look back on with pride at the close of Day 2 of the Australian 2021 Magic Millions Yearling Sale. With 377 lots having been offered for sale to date a series of marks have been achieved:
- $975,000 Capitalist x Golconda colt: Highest priced Capitalist yearling ever at auction & highest priced yearling sold to date by Newgate Farm (bred in partnership with SF Bloodstock & Blake Sandblom Pty Ltd);
- $425,000 Russian Revolution x French Fern filly: Highest priced Russian Revolution yearling sold to date;
- $600,000 Snitzel x Helix Park colt: highest priced yearling sold to date by Sledmere Stud;
- Maintaining 100% record in sale of all 7 yearlings offered to date at the 2021 Magic Millions Yearling Sale;
“There is still the majority of the sale to play out so we cannot get ahead of ourselves, however, there is no doubting that today was a rewarding day for the Club,” said Michael Smith, China Horse Club’s Australasian representative.
Capitalist x Golconda colt: “highest priced Capitalist yearling ever sold”
“The Capitalist x Golconda colt has always impressed us and his full-brother Marine One shows considerable talent. He was bred in partnership with SF Bloodstock and Blake Sandblom Pty Ltd and our high esteem of him was met by some of the biggest players in the industry. He was purchased by a great buyer in James Harron and will be given every chance with the Snowden stable.
Russian Revolution x Flying Fern filly: “highest priced Russian Revolution yearling to date”
“It was also rewarding to sell the Russian Revolution x French Fern filly so well. The talk on Russian Revolution has been very strong since his first foals were born and the French Fern demonstrates the quality and athleticism that Russian Revolution reproduces in his stock. We expect the Russian Revolutions to continue selling well throughout 2021.”
A further six yearlings are part of the China Horse Club’s 2021 Magic Millions draft. Two are listed for trading tomorrow including the second of four Russian Revolution yearlings (Lot 463 Russian Revolution x Lasarla colt). The second of the two lots is a powerfully made half-brother to Chris Waller’s impressive two-year-old trialler Giannis who was second in a trial at first asking at Rosehill on 4th January 2021.
