The audaciously named Beadman marked his scorecard with a facile win at his second career start becoming the third juvenile winner in April for China Horse Club / Newgate Farm / Go Bloodstock and partners and the fifth individual juvenile winner for Chin Horse Club this season.

Off the back off a strong debut second, Beadman was sent out as a short-priced favourite at Newcastle (Australia) and was ridden like the best horse by seasoned jockey Mitchell Bell.

The Peter Snowden trained runner jump well from his inside gate and controlled the speed throughout the contest. He was never pressured and, having been kept in a positive rhythm throughout, sprinted strongly when asked to put paid to this field as connections will have hoped. On the line the margin was almost two lengths.

“[Beadman] knew what he was here for today,” Bell said post-race. “He was quite anxious in the gates but he popped out really well. There was no speed and we were left in front.

“The main thing was to get him in a rhythm and we did that from about the 1000m. Then [Beadman] quickened nicely and finished off well.

“I think [Beadman] is a better horse ridden behind them. Circumstances today prevailed and he had to lead. Good run.”

North England has been the standard bearer for China Horse Club / Newgate Farm / Go Bloodstock and partners to date this season, parlaying his win in the G3 Golden Gift with a determined success over the Sydney Autumn Carnival in the G3 Kindergarten Stakes at the start of the month to lift his career earnings above AUD826,000. In between those displays, North England was a game sixth in the G1 Golden Slipper.

Fellow Golden Slipper starter, Quietly Arrogant, won the Gold Nugget QTIS to qualify for the Magic Millions and was an unlucky third in the G2 Skyline Stakes.

Impact Zone, also in the care of Snowden, was impressive breaking his maiden last week at Newcastle and will be given his chance to add to the group’s haul in next month’s AUD1,000,000 Magic Millions National 2YO Classic (1000m).

Outside of the above mentioned colt’s partnership, China Horse Club has also enjoyed success in Western Australia with the promising Elite Beau. The colt demonstrated undeniable qualities when scoring on debut, so much so he was tested in the AUD200,000 Listed Perth Stakes only for shin soreness to play its role.
