Extreme Choice colt out of Dame Giselle
As the first and biggest sale of the Australian yearling season, Magic Millions always brings a sense of excitement and promise for the year to come. Buyers from around Australia and the world descend on the Gold Coast to take in the remarkable spectacle of sport, glitz, glamour and horses that proprietors Gerry and Katie Page-Harvey have created in this seemingly endless summer wonderland.
This year, The Chase took six yearlings through the Bundall ring for 100% clearance and an average of $538,333, reaching a new milestone for the farm as the 2026 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale leading vendor by average (three or more sold).
“It’s a really rewarding result for The Chase. Magic Millions, more than any other sale, brings together the broadest range of farms across Australia to showcase their best yearlings to a market with genuine depth,” said China Horse Club’s Michael Smith. “To come out on top is a credit to our team and the respect the farm is earning. For me, the most satisfying measure is the buyers who backed our product. Newgate, Chris Waller and Guy Mulcaster, Ridgmont and Jim Clarke, Peter Moody and Gary Portelli are among the savviest and most successful operators in the game. To earn their confidence is priceless, and it means this group of yearlings will be placed to get every chance to fulfil their potential on the track. In many ways, we are only getting started with what we are aiming to build at The Chase, and this should be seen as a sign of things to come as we continue to refine our strategy and invest in stock we believe can compete and ultimately reproduce at the highest level.”
The Chase also reached a significant new milestone on the Gold Coast when Lot 201, an Extreme Choice colt out of Dame Giselle, realized $1.2-million from Waller Racing and Mulcaster Bloodstock.
A colt with undeniable presence and a page packed with performance, Lot 201 proved a headline act through the Bundall ring and underlined the growing market momentum behind The Chase’s program.
“He’s the first horse we’ve brought to Magic Millions that has broken the million-dollar barrier, making it a special moment for everyone at The Chase. There’s a lot of unseen work that goes into getting a horse to this stage, so it’s enormously satisfying to see the market recognize the quality of the individual and reward the team’s effort,” said China Horse Club’s Michael Smith.
Buyer Guy Mulcaster was equally pleased to secure the colt, pointing to both his athleticism and depth of pedigree.
“We’re pretty happy with that colt, he looked sharp and he’s got a beautiful family,” Mulcaster said.
Offered as part of The Chase draft, the seven-figure result not only sets a new benchmark for the farm at Magic Millions, but also places the colt into one of Australia’s leading stables.
