Beadman (Snitzel) returned to his brilliant best in Saturday’s Listed Fireball Stakes (1100m) at Royal Randwick, producing a perfect start to his autumn preparation.

Sent out a firm favourite in what traditionally shapes as a key lead-up to the Group 1 Galaxy in two weeks, Beadman dug deep when it mattered, reeling off a scorching final 600 metres in 32.86 seconds to stamp himself as a genuine contender for the major sprint feature.

“He’s a beautiful colt and one we have always thought highly of,” said CHC’s Michael Smith. “He’s a big, masculine horse now, and to put in a gutsy effort like that first-up off a break was exactly what we wanted to see. He’ll strip fitter again and should be spot on for the Galaxy in two weeks.”

With just seven starts to his name, and six of those resulting in wins or placings, Beadman is continuing to build an impressive and consistent record as he prepares for another tilt at the highest level.

Could this son of Snitzel join the esteemed list of colts by the same sire to carry the red and yellow to Group 1 glory, following in the footsteps of Russian Revolution, Wild Ruler and In The Congo?
