State of Rest
Anad got her first-season sire State Of Rest off to a fast start at stud with a good-looking debut victory at Wolverhampton Friday.
Sent off as the 2-1 favorite, she raced at the back early on. Launching a bid on the far turn, Anad displayed greenness while hitting the front a furlong out, but remained firmly in command, crossing the line 3 ½ lengths the best.
“It’s immensely satisfying to see State Of Rest sire his first winner with Anad,” said CHC’s Matt Houldsworth. “To see his progeny get off the mark so early is a real thrill. Congratulations to owner Alanood Althani, trainer Karl Burke, jockey Clifford Lee, breeder N. Hartery and everyone connected with Anad. She looks a very promising filly and, hopefully, the first of many winners for State Of Rest.”
A son of Starsplangledbanner, State of Rest reeled off a trio of top-level scores on three different continents, starting with America’s GI Saratoga Derby Invitational S. in August of 2021. Traveling across the equator, he captured Australia’s G1 Cox Plate that October, after which he returned to Europe and was given a freshening. Returning to action in May of 2022, the bay won the G1 Prix Ganay at Longchamp and, two starts later, he carried the CHC silks to a victory the G1 Prince of Wales S. at Royal Ascot.
