CHC stallion Life is Good continued his hot streak with his daughter Life Changing becoming his fourth ‘TDN Rising Star’ Saturday at Saratoga. No sire in history has had that many ‘Rising Stars’ in his first crop by August 1.
A $1.025-million Fasig-Tipton Saratoga purchase, Life Changing broke sharply and went straight to the front, carving out swift early fractions. She rolled clear from her only pursuer in the lane, graduating by seven lengths in a time that was one second faster than the colt race run on the same card. Owned by Repole Stable and trained by Hall of Famer Todd Pletcher, the filly is a half-sister to GI Preakness S. hero Seize the Gray (Arrogate).
Life Changing is the eighth winner for Life is Good, who currently sits second on the first-crop sire list. His eight winners include Waggley, a speedy filly who has won two stakes against males, as well as GI Hopeful S. contender The Good Life, another ‘TDN Rising Star’ owned by CHC, WinStar and First Go Racing.
“We have always been big believers in Life is Good’s ability to succeed in the stud barn and his first crop has just knocked it out of the park so far,” CHC’s Christie DeBernardis said. “We have run two Life is Good colts ourselves this summer and both won first out.
