Tabreed became the third winner for the China Horse Club’s fledgling racing team when streeting rivals at Monmouth Park in the United States overnight. In the process she carried the CHC’s success to yet another international racing region.
The athletic mare joins Scarlet Moretta (Australia) and Tropaios (Singapore) as winners in the company’s inaugural year and, like her fellow internationally based stable mates, she is seen as a performer whose best is still ahead of her.
Trainer Christophe Clement has been particularly patient with Tabreed who was singled out by his brother, Nicolas Clement, on behalf of the CHC at last year’s Arqana Breeding Stock Sale. That patience was unlucky not to be rewarded on her debut in the United States when she missed the start and flew from last to finish second. There was no doubt on this occasion when she raced away to score hard held by two-and-a-half lengths.
In the process Tabreed made the mile and one eighth (1800m) allowance race her own. From her wide barrier jockey Joe Bravo settled his mount at the tail of the field and was still spotting the leaders a sizeable start when turning into the Monmouth straight. But Tabreed quickly slipped through her gears and exploded away from her rivals in a manner that allowed Bravo the luxury of dropping his hands and coasting the mare to the line.
Tabreed winning in America(30th June)
