Olympic Anthem
The China Horse Club has rocketed out of the blocks with its first winner just days into the New Year. Olympic Anthem, a former member of CHC’s Australian racing team, produced a swashbuckling display to come from last in the S$80,000 Kranji Stakes C (1100m) to score by a length.
Olympic Anthem’s win comes just days after the close of a record breaking season for the fledgling racing club. No less than 41 individual winners were tallied from racing operations in China and around the world and this early score in Singapore augurs well for a strong 2015 where much is anticipated.
“This is a great start to 2015. Our Singapore team has been exceedingly strong and with the addition of horses like Olympic Anthem and the upcoming CECF Singapore a great deal of attention is directed to this part of the world in the coming months,” said Eden Harrington, General Manager of the China Horse Club.
“But Singapore isn’t out only focus of great interest this year. We have bought some exceptionally exciting racehorses that have bulked up our international team, our team in China is really expected to flourish and we have some young stock that has still to debut. Members can rightly feel that they are well placed to enter the winners circle with the CHC.”
Olympic Anthem had been under the care of trainer Robert Heathcote in Brisbane where he won on no less than three occasions and was touched out in a blanket finish in the G2 Queensland Guineas. This grounding was seen as paramount to him excelling in Singapore in 2015 under the care of Michael Freedman.
The gelding was explosive in his Singapore debut under the care of Craig Newitt. Having settled back in the field he was pulled to the centre of the track and under vigorous riding he showed a slick change of gears to score in an exciting fashion.
