Royal Easter(no 6)
Royal Easter became the fifth winner for the China Horse Club over the Chinese New Year period when a sustained sprint to the line carried him to an inch perfect win in Singapore yesterday.
In saluting the chestnut carried on an international run of success which began in the very same centre nine days ago with A La Victory stormed to victory under lights at Kranji. A day later Clear Ripples led throughout in Australia before two of the club’s ‘A Listers’ Press Statement and First Seal dominated elite rivals in the G2 Hobartville Stakes and G2 Millie Fox Stakes respectively in Sydney on Saturday.
“It has been a phenomenal week with our horses. Our members, and the stables that support our members, should all be very proud,” said Michael Wallace, The China Horse Club’s Head of Racing and Breeding.
“Our different stables understand the significance of Chinese New Year and it is very rewarding to hear the positive response from China. We have started the Year of the Monkey in the best possible way and we have a great year ahead. There is a lot for the China Horse Club to look forward to.”

Royal Easter posted a much deserved win having never finished worse than fourth in his previous five career starts. The strapping three-year-old had been unlucky in 2015 on more than one occasion when being unable to secure clear running between rivals and for a few strides on Sunday he again looked to be awkwardly placed. But jockey Alan Munro found clear running upon entering the straight and set his mount out after tearaway leader The Wind who was approximately five to six lengths ahead of him.
Munro continued to urge Royal Easter who was eating into the lead of The Wind and at the 100m mark, when his mount changed lead legs and lengthened stride, he drove Royal Easter to the line to score by a nose.
“Five winners in 10 days is certainly something to savour. That brings our tally of winners in 2016 to six so far,” Wallace added.
“When you take into account that flat racing has not begun in Europe or China, that our stables in the US have not been active early in the year and that our best horses in Australia are only surfacing now, it is a great result and one we can build upon.
“We have a number of promising young horses surfacing in Australia who will support the likes of Press Statement and First Seal as well as a quality stayer like Auvray and our team in China, which has done so well in a short time, is not far away from racing again. I can see our tally climbing.”
