The international syndicate behind outstanding colt Invader was on hand yesterday to see him after his weekend heroics in the $A1,000,000 G1 Inglis Sires Produce Stakes. Representatives of WinStar Farm, SF Bloodstock, Newgate Farm and China Horse Club visited the stable of trainers Peter and Paul Snowden and the last start star was among a pool of quality horses parading that included fellow G1 winner Russian Revolution.
“Invader has come through the Sires Produce Stakes very well, he has eaten up and hasn’t missed a beat,” co-trainer Peter Snowden said.
“His win was very good and we are currently evaluating the G1 Champagne Stakes very closely.
“What I can tell you is that if he does run he will give you everything. That is the kind of horse he is. He is a real fighter and I will back him in a fight every day of the week.”
CHC Chairman, Teo Ah Khing with Trainer, Peter Snowden
Invader became an exceedingly valuable stallion in waiting when roaring down the centre of the Royal Randwick straight on the first day of Sydney’s showpiece carnival, The Championships, in front of more than 20,000 racing fans.
His triumph is the second in the time honoured race for the China Horse Club who also shared in the ownership of high profile young stallion Pride of Dubai with Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa, Coolmore Australia and partners. Pride of Dubai, who is currently reverse shuttling to Ireland for the current northern hemisphere breeding season, was secured his second successive G1 win in the Sires Produce Stakes in 2015.
Invader will be bidding to equal that feat when he fronts in the $A500,000 G1 Champagne Stakes (1600m), the third leg of Australia’s juvenile ‘Triple Crown’, which follows on from the Longines Golden Slipper and Inglis Sires Produce Stakes on 15th April.
