Oregon became the fourth winner in six days for the China Horse Club after leading throughout in the AUD45,000 All Too Hard @ Vinery Handicap (1250m) in Sydney today. The athletic colt was always in control of this affair under the guidance of champion jockey Kerrin McEvoy and had little trouble delivering upon the weighty opinions held of him.

The Canterbury Park win of the Peter and Paul Snowden trained Oregon followed in quick succession after fellow CHC wins with Cognac (UK on Sunday), Quantico (Australia on Saturday) and Pawpaw (UK on Friday) reaffirming the good form of the Club’s various international racing stables.

Oregon jumped well from his inside gate and held the fence with McEvoy controlling the race tempo. Coming into the corner Oregon was well in command and when let down he had little trouble with the testing heavy 9 surface. It was the third race start for the son of Zoustar who is likely to be given a short break before being assessed for more meaningful racing assignments.

The run of wins comes as confirmation that CHC’s boom juvenile Untamed has been secured by Hong Kong interests in a lucrative private deal. The colt was dynamic in a four-start career in Australia, winning twice and finishing second in his first three starts before stepping up to contest the G1 Champagne Stakes. His sale represents an astute commercial return for connections.

Untamed was secured by trainer David Hayes who is building a quality band of racing stock ahead of his return to the Asian racing centre.
