A year after starting favourite in the AUD2,000,000 Magic Millions 2YO Classic, Aim delivered a searing reminder of his qualities to win the AUD2,000,000 Magic Millions 3YO Guineas (1400m). The lucrative result followed a fantastic week of sales results for the China Horse Club who races Aim in partnership with a syndicate of high-profile owners.

Aim lifted his lifetime earnings to over AUD1.35 million and will look to build on that sum as trainers Peter and Paul Snowden plot a path over the second half of the season with him. The weekend’s result was further proof of the importance of selecting sound, tough, athletic and mentally robust yearlings who are capable of fronting preparation after preparation. China Horse Club and partners are hoping they have selected astutely once again after securing six notable colts by proven stallions including Snitzel, I Am Invincible, Sebring, Zoustar and Brazen Beau.

Aim’s natural abilities ensured he contested some of the biggest races in his two-year-old year. Bad luck and wet tracks plagued much of his preparation but that was cast aside as he exploded in the home straight at the Gold Coast Turf Club to win the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas by almost two lengths.

“He lost his way a wee bit after that two-year-old season but he’s back as a gelding this preparation and it’s been the making of him,” Paul Snowden told media post-race.

“He’s a lot stronger now but that comes with maturity as well. [A sale for Aim fell through] the money didn’t come through so we just played on and look what we’ve got today.

“Thankfully we’ve got him back and who knows what can happen from here.”

The China Horse Club had another exceptional sale selling all 13 yearlings it was involved in. The Club again demonstrated its ability to meet the market while also offering some of the sales most in-demand stock headlined by an AUD975,000 Capitalist X Golconda colt (bred in partnership with SF Bloodstock and Blake Sandblom Pty Ltd); AUD600,000 Snitzel x Helix Park colt and AUD425,000 Russian Revolution x Flying Fern filly (the co-highest price for the first crop of Russian Revolution).

The Club is set to sell the second batch of its portfolio of yearling at the 2021 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale 7th – 9th February 2021. The draft will again be appealing and includes a half-brother to current racetrack star Dame Giselle, a four-time G2 winner of more than AUD1.2 million.
