Wonderfully Made enhanced her growing reputation in Western Australia with a dominant victory in the G3 W.A Oaks (2400m) at Ascot, handing trainer Daniel Morton, jockey Lucy Fiore and China Horse Club a deserved feature-race success.

Already a Listed Ascot 1000 Guineas winner this preparation, the daughter of Playing God took the step up to 2400 metres in her stride, settling comfortably before asserting her class in the straight and running away from the field in the closing stages to score by just over four lengths.

Morton said the filly had given him every reason to be confident heading into the classic.

“I was confident with the amount of work we were able to get into her, and she’s bred for it, tailor-made for it,” he said.

He also praised Fiore’s handling of the filly in the run.

“Absolute gun ride by Lucy today,” Morton said.

The Oaks win was another important result for China Horse Club, with Morton quick to acknowledge the support of the ownership group.

“I’d like to give a shout out to Michael Smith and the China Horse Club, they’ve let me do my job and it’s been amazing to get a horse of her quality in our yard,” he said.

Wonderfully Made has now emerged as one of the leading fillies of her crop in the west, adding a Group victory to an already outstanding campaign and further boosting her value as a daughter of Playing God.

“She was sensational. She has loads of class and it’s been really rewarding to see her deliver on the promise we saw in her as a yearling and that she has shown to Dan Morton in her work all the way through. Ideally, if she has a good week, we will raise the bar again and see her line up in the G2 WATC Derby (2400m) to take on the boys next week,” said Michael Smith.
