The China Horse Club has secured an interest in the undefeated colt Extreme Choice who will start favourite in the world’s richest two-year-old race this Saturday, Australia’s $A3.5 million  G1 Longines Golden Slipper (1200m) run this Saturday.

A consortium including Newgate Farm, the China Horse Club, Aquis Farm, Matthew Sandblom and SF Bloodstock has purchased a major share in Extreme Choice who will run in the red and yellow silks of the China Horse Club for the rest of his career.

Extreme Choice stamped himself as one of Australia’s premier stallion prospects last month when delivering one of the highest rating performances in the history of the time honoured $A1.5 million   G1 Blue Diamond Stakes. Further success in the G1 Golden Slipper will elevate him into the pantheon of juvenile greats as a rare winner of the Blue Diamond Stakes-Golden Slipper double. A feat which has only been successfully achieved once in the last 27 years and five times in the 45 years since the Blue Diamond Stakes began.

“I said after the Blue Diamond Stakes, it is just a privilege to be involved in a two-year-old as talented as Extreme Choice,” said Henry Field, Managing Director of Newgate Farm.

“Win, lose or draw in the Golden Slipper, Extreme Choice will go down in the history as one of the fastest juveniles this decade.  We very much look forward to sharing the remainder of his racing career with all the original owners who will retain their respective racing interests.”

The confirmation of the China Horse Club’s involvement in the star colt ensures the club will line up three leading chances in two of the biggest races set to be run in Australia in 2016. Extreme Choice adds his considerable weight to a red and yellow army which includes headline acts Press Statement and First Seal and the lightly raced stayer Auvray. The talismanic Press Statement and First Seal will clash in Saturday’s $A1 million  George Ryder Stakes (1500m), a race which promises to be the contest of the Sydney Autumn Carnival having attracted nominations from eight G1 winners including fellow heavyweights Winx, Kermadec and Turn Me Loose.

“Saturday promises to be a very significant day for our club. We are delighted to join in the ownership of Extreme Choice and look forward to furthering our relationship with Newgate Farm, the original owners and our new partners for the rest of his racing career,” said Teo Ah Khing, Chairman of the China Horse Club.

“Extreme Choice’s win in the Blue Diamond Stakes was exceptional and gained a great deal of attention among China’s growing racing fan base. I know our members are looking forward to being part of what promises to be a very exciting journey.

“To have Extreme Choice join First Seal, Press Statement and Auvray on Saturday as a runner in our red and yellow silks is a great privilege and one we do not take lightly. For a young club it is vitally important for our identity and for our members who have a growing appreciation for racing in Australia.”

Extreme Choice joins a growing list of colts which the China Horse Club is partnering with Newgate Farm and its affiliated breeders. Previous partnerships have netted wonderful results with five time G1 winner Dissident being crowned the 2015 Australian Horse of the Year and both Wandjina and Deep Field being warmly received during their first seasons at stud last spring. Former Singapore flyer, Super One, also heads a quality list of current racing stock which includes a pool of promising young colts.

Aquis Farm, who has also acquired an interest in Extreme Choice, was equally upbeat about the prospects of the colt. Tony Fung, Chairman of Aquis Farm said: “Aquis Farm’s investment in the exciting Golden Slipper favourite, Extreme Choice, is part of the farm’s continued growing but measured investment in the Australian thoroughbred breeding industry.  It is however merely a precursor to some exciting planned future initiatives. We have great faith in Henry Field and Newgate Farm, and we look forward to seeing Extreme Choice join the Newgate Stallion roster in due course.
