A CHC-bred filly by Not This Time hit a high note at the prestigious Keeneland September Sale Tuesday, summoning $1.2-million from Mayberry Farm. The bay filly is the first foal out the stakes-winning mare Let Her Inspire U.
“This is a filly we have always been high on,” said CHC’s Christie DeBernardis. “She has been one of the standouts of our crop from very early on. She is by one of the best sires in the country in Not This Time. He couldn’t be doing any better, which certainly helped. Her mother is just beautiful and she clearly passed that on. She is going to a great program with the Mayberrys and we will be rooting for her on the track next year.”
Purchased as a 2-year-old, Let Her Inspire U, a daughter of Practical Joke, carried the CHC colors to five victories and over $427,000 in earnings. She hails from the family of MGSW and GISP Halory Leigh.
“What makes this filly even more incredible is she is the first foal for Let Her Inspire U,” DeBernardis said. “It is not very often you start a mare’s career on such a high note. Let Her Inspire U has a filly by Liam’s Map, a half-brother to Not This Time, this year and she is also outstanding. We are very excited for this mare’s future in our breeding program.”
A Life Is Good filly out of GISW Embelllish the Lace, one of CHC’s top mares, did not disappoint either. She summoned $500,000 from bloodstock agent Phil Hager, acting on behalf of WHS Stable, during Book 1’s second session.
CHC sold three more yearlings during Book 2, who were all very well received. Another daughter of Not This Time, out of the very accomplished mare Summer Solo, brought $500,000 from Mountmellick Farm. Rose All Day’s second foal, a colt by Uncle Mo, dropped the hammer at $300,000 and will go to Highlander Training Center. The last of the group, a Life is Good filly out of Lady Aces, went for $275,000 to Gayle Van Leer.
CHC was also active on the buying side, purchasing seven colts in partnership with WinStar Farm and First Go Racing during Books 1 and 2. Their purchases were topped by a $1-million son of their sensational young stallion Life is Good.
