Commengy(No 4) to the finishing line in the Class 2/3 1200m race

The CHC’s China Racing Team kicked off its 2015 racing season in Wuhan, China in the same manner it closed 2014, with a win. The Australian bred Commengy led home a CHC 1-2 when racing clear of stablemate Hales. Commengy’s success was the highlight of a day that also include a runner-up performance from the club’s sprinter Sturt.

“It is a fantastic way to start the new season in China and is augurs well for the rest of the year,” said Head Trainer Quinton Cassidy.

“I have been really pleased with the off-season our horses have had, our team has worked hard and our horses are in great shape. This year I expect that some of our stars from 2014 will need to step up to another level to continuing dominating but I believe they can. I’m also encouraged by some of our more lightly raced performers that are in our system, I think we may have some new stars surface in 2015. That would be great for our members and great for the club.”

Commengy ran out a dominant winner of the 1200m contest at Wuhan, kicking clear in the home straight under the guidance of rider Cai Ji to win in impressive fashion. The gelding, a winner in 2014, has returned to racing a bigger and stronger individual. Hales, the runner-up, was far from disgraced in his first hit out for the new year and is expected to be even better placed over more ground.
