The China Horse Club returned to fertile ground when buying at the final day of Book 1 at New Zealand’s Karaka Yearling Sale. The Club secured an athletic Proisir x The Pearler filly and will be hoping she will be able to add her weight to an honour roll that includes notables from both sides of the Tasman headed by G1 winners First Seal and Madison County.

“A lovely mature filly that we thought was a standout physical,” said the China Horse Club’s representative Michael Smith.

“Proisir is profiling like an elite stallion for the future and her own dam has already produced a Group 1-class filly, so she’s a long-term proposition for us. The dream is that she could find her way to 1,000 Guineas, Karaka Millions race or the new The Kiwi slot race in time.”

The China Horse Club hasn’t been active at Karaka since 2020 with its attention in the region in recent years being on sourcing elite colts with its partners and supporting its stallion interests which are domiciled in Australia.
