The full spectrum of China Horse Club’s involvement in the thoroughbred industry was on display over the weekend with outstanding results with its racing operations as well as its diversified breeding operations. Importantly, the results were enjoyed across Britain, Ireland and Singapore where racing resumed over the weekend.
“It was a weekend that demonstrated the full spectrum of China Horse Club’s operation. From success on the racetrack, to the emergence of another group winner from our international breeding operation and to the continued success of our stallion programme,” said Michael Wallace, China Horse Club’s Chief Operating Officer.
“Success is expected with an operation of this scale. However, what is encouraging to see is the consistency of these results as well as the quality of them as well. The emergence of New Bay this early in his career is very encouraging. As a classic winning son of champion sire Dubawi, breeders and trainers will expect the best is ahead of these performers as they mature and get over more ground.
Australia
CHC’s breeding operations enjoyed a wonderful result in the G3 Melt Stakes at Leopardstown in Ireland as Patrick Sarsfield posted his fourth successive win in a dominant display. The four-year-old is the product of an orchestrated mating between quality mare Ultra Appeal and its former champion racehorse Australia. Ultra Appeal is in foal to Australia once again and has a Dark Angel colt on the ground.
The Club’s European stallion operations are also enjoying the rise and rise of New Bay. The credentials of the Ballylinch based sire were highlighted once again as he enjoyed a winning double over the weekend in Britain and Ireland.
New Bay
New Bay is part of CHC’s impressive portfolio of European based sires that also includes Siyouni, Dark Angel and the above-mentioned Australia. The success of Jumby (Ascot) and Vafortino (Leopardstown) lifted his tally of winners to six from only 11 runners in his maiden season at stud and kept him equal top of the leader board of sires table for Britain and Ireland.
In Singapore, the resumption of racing was greeted with a slick winning display by the ever game Nationality. The Lee Freedman trained gelding has been a model of consistency in the Asian racing centre and showed an explosive turn of foot to lift his prize money earnings to over SGD180,000.
