At the close of the opening day of the 2022 Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale, the China Horse Club’s The Chase was leading vendor by average and gross among 72 participating vendors.
It was a stunning debut for the Southern Highlands based operation with 100 percent of its agistment sold for an average of AUD156,000 – more than 250 percent of the opening days average. More significantly, it was a wonderful tribute to the late Kerrie Vantijn who oversaw their preparation before her tragic passing.
“Heading into the sale there was a lot of sentiment as Kerrie is from South Australia. There was also a lot of positivity around the five yearlings prepared and consigned by The Chase,” said Michael Smith, China Horse Club’s Australasian Representative.
“We intentionally selected what we believe would be eye catching individuals for this sale and it certainly hasn’t hurt that four of the five are by the highly exciting Russian Revolution.
“The response from the market has been exceedingly encouraging and a fitting reward for all the work the team at The Chase has done.”

Darby Racing secures another Russian Revolution yearling from CHC (Russian Revolution x Hidden Gem colt)
Russian Revolution has had a wondrous start to his stallion career. The former China Horse Club colour-bearer will be the most represented sire in the AUD5 million G1 Golden Slipper, the world’s richest two-year-old race.
The Newgate Farm based sire is pinning his hopes to the above mentioned Revolutionary Miss, Magic Millions runner-up Russian Conquest and last Saturday’s G3 Pago Page Stakes winner Rise of the Masses.
