Another weekend. Another barrage of winners for China Horse Club with its UK operation driving a run of international success for the club’s red and yellow silks. Internationally, CHC has enjoyed no less than seven winners since seven (7) winners in the last 17 days with Cobh (UK) and Quantico (Australia) ensuring the stables continue to ride a wave that has seen success with:

7 win in 17

Cobh’s slick debut win at Haydock Park on Sunday was the CHC’s fourth UK based winner from its last nine runners. In a positive sign, the wins were delivered by four dinner performers and a series of different trainers.

“Cobh’s displayed a very professional attitude and knew his job,” said CHC’s Matt Houldsworth post-race.

“Cobh sat just off the leader before making a strong challenge one furlong (200m) out- he’s stayed on well to maintain the advantage and hit the line hard.

“This was a good race on paper and [trainer Clive Cox]’s horses normally need the run first time out. He’s a smart colt that takes a bit of managing at home but he was thoroughly professional on the track today and that’s all that matters.”

A determined debut win at this time of year often leads to a programme tilted towards stakes races and that is likely as well for Cobh. The same may be said for Quantico has secured his second successive win when delivering another booming finish to knock out his rivals. The strapping colt’s record now stands at five starts for three wins and a second with his only misstep coming on a track too soft for his liking.
