The China Horse Club’s French stable was in tremendous form this week with a winner and second placegetter from two runners. Ming Zhi Cosmos recorded her third win from only eight career starts while Celestial House made a most encouraging debut second.
“Our French team is so very important to our international team and our members certainly follow news of their progress closely,” said CHC General Manager Eden Harrington.
“Ming Zhi Cosmos continues to race well and a great deal of credit goes to Nicolas Clement and his team for keeping her in a wonderful frame of mind. Celestial House’s debut was encouraging and he certainly looks capable of winning races. To run second on debut at Longchamp is a great start. He will have learnt from that and hopefully can continue to progress ahead of his next run.”
Ming Zhi Cosmos
Ming Zhi Cosmos has now won almost €100,000 since making her debut in July last year. In that time she has also shown she is not far off winning in stakes company. This on pace runner has been a most consistent performer for the CHC and is relishing racing at the current time when the tracks in France are a little softer.
At Lyon, the free-rolling Ming Zhi Cosmos controlled the early tempo of the race before a rival, Real Promise, slipped around her to take up the lead. Jockey Thierry Thulliez tracked Real Promise into the straight and only asked Ming Zhi Cosmos to hit top gear inside the final 200m. The bay loomed up to real Promise, moved passed her and then raced away in commanding fashion to win.
Trainer Nicolas Clement is now eyeing off the Listed Prix Sorellina (1600m) at La Teste next month.
Clement was also delighted with the initial performance of Celestial House at Paris’ Longchamp Racecouse. The two-year-old colt kicked his career off in the Prix des Nouveautes (1000m) and from a wide draw showed good speed to settle close to the lead. And while well held by the eventual winner Super Ale, Celestial House was a further five lengths clear of his nearest rival.
