The China Horse Club’s run of success continued unabated today as it’s promising stayer General Zabeel became its fifth winner in three days. The lightly raced performer scored a dominant two and a half length win in Australia just a day after Pride of Dubai won the $A1,000,000 Inglis ATC Sires Produce Stakes and two days after a trio of winners saluted in Singapore.
General Zabeel(No 5) to the finishing line
General Zabeel was dropping back in grade from the G2 Tulloch Stakes and performed like the class individual in the race to come from just behind the leaders to burst clear and win as he liked.
“John Thompson has been very patient with General Zabeel. We have a long term plan with him and he is ahead of where we thought he would be right now and that is very encouraging,” said Eden Harrington, General Manager for the China Horse Club.
“Today was a great result for our members and carries on a fantastic week for our club. Five winners in our last six runners is very exciting. For people who are considering meeting new people, travelling and enjoying exciting experiences either in China or overseas this is what they want to see. They want to be a part of something special and our club demonstrates that this is very possible.”
Thompson sees General Zabeel as a quality stayer in the making who will start to realise on his potential in a season or two. The trainer also remains upbeat about his stable star First Seal who will contest the $A1,000,000 G1 Queen of the Turf Stakes.
“First Seal is very well. You can tell the members that she worked well this morning and that I am happy with her,” the trainer said.
