Retired star Improbable has been ranked the world’s highest-rated dirt miler (1301m – 1899m) overnight at the 2020 Longines World’s Best Racehorse Rankings. The assessment comes on the eve of the Eclipse Award in the United States where the striking chestnut has been shortlisted for two awards.

Improbable’s three successive G1 wins in the Hollywood Gold Cup / Whitney Stakes / Awesome Again Stakes and his gritty second in the G1 Breeders’ Cup Classic place him as a leading elect for the Eclipse Older Dirt Male title. He is also among the three nominees for the Eclipse Horse of the Year honours.

The Whitney Stakes win of the Bob Baffert trainee was also ranked the highest-rated dirt mile contest and the fourth-highest dirt race over any distance in 2020. Improbable’s triumph in the G1 Awesome Again Stakes was also among the top 10 highest rated races in the United States in 2020.

“Improbable had a phenomenal year, it is wonderfully rewarding that he has been recognized for his exceptional performances at the 2020 Longines World’s Best Racehorse Rankings,” said Michael Wallace, China Horse Club Chief Operating Officer.

“Breeders have also recognized that he is a high-quality racehorse and individual. From the moment it was announced that he was retiring to WinStar Farm he has been exceptionally popular.”

Improbable stands for USD40,000 at WinStar Farm.

Tiz The Law, who China Horse Club is a shareholder in, was the second highest-rated dirt horse in the world. The entire was retired to Coolmore’s Ashford Stud ahead of the 2021 breeding season.
