Three days ahead of piloting Golden Slipper prospect Quietly Arrogant in the feature AUD300,000 G2 Skyline Stakes (1200m), champion jockey James McDonald has carried the same China Horse Club silks to success aboard the group placed President.

The two colts, owned in the same interests, are above average talents with President having marked his capabilities last season with a close up third in the G2 Champagne Classic over the Brisbane Winter Carnival.

President hasn’t been seen under race conditions since that event back in May, being given time to furnish into himself. The benefits of that patience will hopefully be seen this preparation with the regally bred I Am Invincible colt rising through the grades in timely fashion with the Sydney Autumn Carnival ramping into overdrive.

The performance drew praise from McDonald: “Terrific result, he did everything we asked of him today, went around with a great demeanour,” the jockey said.

“[President] jumped out extremely quickly, put himself into a great spot and travelled kindly. Mentally he has improved a lot and when he let down, he let down very quickly and only got tired late.”

At the same stage of his career, Quietly Arrogant is slightly more exposed. Already a winner, the Peter Snowden trainee was last seen closing hard late in the AUD3,000,000 Magic Millions 2YO Classic having drawn wide on the tight circuit.

Quietly Arrogant has been fine tuned with a barrier trial at Rosehill and bids to join the China Horse Club/Newgate Farm/Go Bloodstock Syndicate’s North England as a contender for the world’s richest two-year-old race.
