Tactical speed and grit have earned Just Society his second career win and an eight victory for CHC in only 19 days. The Club’s UK and Australian stables have traded winners since 19th June with a win from the promising debutant Cobh over the weekend lifting the tally in favour of the UK stable. Just Society has wrestled back that advantage today with a determined win at Newcastle.

“That was a good, tough win. The intention wasn’t to lead but Just Society jumped so well and (jockey) Tommy Berry used that advantage to control the race from the front before fending off challenges all the way down the straight,” said Michael Smith, China Horse Club’s Australasian Representative.

“John O’Shea has been bullish on this horse and that assessment was franked today. A return to a mile suited him and he was strong right through the line.”

Just Society is a son of CHC’s former champion racehorse Dissident and has now won twice and placed on three occasions in his 10 start career. Today’s victory sees him join a list of recent winners that includes Pawpaw, Quantico (2 wins), Cognac, Oregon, Bondi Sands and the above-mentioned Cobh.

“The Club’s stables are going exceptionally well right now. It is a great result for all involved,” said Michael Wallace, CHC’s Chief Operating Officer.

“There are some promising performers among the winners in Australia and the UK and, hopefully, they can continue progressing during the second half of this year. It is always challenging, but we hope to be able to maintain this momentum for as long as we can.”
