Life is goodLife Is Good

The imposing features of Life Is Good held sway in a morning visit to WinStar Farm ahead of Day 3 of the 2024 Keeneland September Yearling Sale, presenting a physical template to measure targeted purchases later in the afternoon.

Rising seven now and well established in his second career, the one-time explosive performer has lost none of his charisma or swagger and rightly stands as a benchmark for the aspirations held of the 2024 yearlings that are being accumulated by the partnership of China Horse Club, WinStar Farm and Siena Farm.

At the close of trade on Day 3, that tally had risen to three with the partnership moving with purpose to secure two quality colts to put into work alongside its striking Justify colt from the day before.

An athletic bay son of Candy Ride was marked as a ‘must have’ and was rightly popular in the ring. The first foal of G1 placed stakes winner Up In Smoke, he stands as a commercial prospect in every way and was secured with a winning bid of USD575,000.

Earlier in the day, the partnership secured a colt by one of America’s hottest young sires in Nyquist. The Darley USA based sire currently attests to seven individual G1 winners including current star juveniles Immersive and Tenma. His yearlings have naturally been in high demand, selling for up to USD1.15 million with a median of USD400,000 through the first three days of trading.

In twelve months’ time, expectations will rightly be high with the first Life Is Good yearlings set to grace the world’s most prominent auctions. The four-time G1 winner was himself a graduate of Keeneland’s September Yearling Sale having been sourced from book 1 in 2019.
