First Precinct reinforced the growing global presence of the China Horse Club and its partners when he became the seventh winner across six countries over the last 12 days. The Australian based First Precinct carried on the strong run of form for the club’s domestic and international stables which began in Ireland with Kellstorm on 22nd April and has included Jackfish (France), Choreographer (Britain), Illustrate (China), Manus (China) and Shanghai Bund (Singapore).

The presence of the China Horse Club and its partners is set to grow even further in the coming years through a series of initiatives which will drive a new phase of growth in China’s domestic thoroughbred industry, especially its breeding industry.

“The China Horse Club is very thankful to all of our partners from around the world for their unwavering support in the pursuit of excellence and in creating new opportunities both locally and internationally for Chinese,” said Teo Ah Khing, Founder and Chairman of the China Horse Club.

“We are entering a new phase in the growth of the thoroughbred industry in China and the ongoing racetrack success and ongoing success of stallion prospects and commercial mares is heartening. Not only does it deliver meaningful experiences for our members to encourage them to continue participating in the sport, it lays a further foundation for the building blocks of a commercial breeding industry and a commercial racing industry in Mainland China itself.

“The China Horse Club and its partners are working hand in hand with local government to drive new initiatives which are very exciting. While I am not in a position to make any announcements today, there is no doubt that 2016 will be our most important year to date. To borrow the mission statement of our CECF events, we will be looking to ‘bring the world to China and China to the world’ as we work to create a commercial breeding industry.”

In 2015 the China Horse Club demonstrated that quality performers from Mainland China can measure up in international locations when Beat of the Drum both won and was stakes placed at Santa Anita in the United States. The rugged race mare had previously won at the inaugural 2013 CECF in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia. With ongoing government support and the involvement of the China Horse Club’s international breeding partners, there is every reason to believe that it is only a matter of time before locally bred thoroughbreds from China are competing in major international markets.
