CHC homebred Oseleta is a daughter of high class stallion Deep Field from one of New Zealand’s leading families.
Just days after celebrating the Golden Slipper success of Stay Inside, China Horse Club was again toasting a win after the gritty and game display of Oseleta at only her second career start. The home bred filly, named after one of the rarest varieties of red wine, over raced and laid out over the concluding stages, but when it counted most she dug deep to salute at Matamata (New Zealand).
Oseleta pulled clear to score by a half-length with a further five lengths to the third placegetter. Her success hinted at better opportunities ahead while also enhancing her commercial credentials as a half-sister G3 winner Valpolicella who is herself the dam of three group winners.
“That was a tough, tough win,” summarized CHC’s Michael Smith.
“Oseleta is still a work in progress but she was above to overcome her inexperience and still win. That augurs well for the future. In the coming days we will review the options available to her and plan a path forward for her.”
The focus on Oseleta remains squarely on building her racing CV ahead of her playing a future role in China Horse Club’s commercial breeding operations in Australasia. Her pedigree is laced with exceptional stakes winning fillies making every race result a valuable enhancement to her profile.
