Resonator was sourced by China Horse Club and Newgate Farm at 2021 MM Yearling Sale
Stakes company beckons Resonator after streeting rivals upon his resumption in the AUD50,000 Hellbent @ Yarraman Park Handicap (1200m) at Canterbury Park, in Sydney today.
The handsome juvenile will join a team to tackle the upcoming Brisbane Winter Carnival for trainers Adrian Bott and Gai Waterhouse, a path often successfully used by leading Sydney stables and one that was a precursor to now sire Wild Ruler making his first dip into group company.
China Horse Club’s talent pool is expected to also include boom colt Metallicity, possible recent trial winner Ringmaster and Meritable, runner-up in the 2021 G1 New Zealand 2000 Guineas.
“That was a fantastic effort. He is a little hard to gauge at home because he is so laidback,” said Bott post-race.
“[Resonator] is workmanlike in what he does, but I was encouraged by his trials. I thought he showed sharpness there and bought that here. There is a lot of upside to this horse.”
Jockey Tim Clark controlled the race aboard Resonator and once he gave his charge full rein, Resonator raced away to score by almost three lengths. It was an imposing return and one that reiterated the talent hinted at in the early season trials before he finished unplaced in the Listed Breeders’ Plate as a leading elect.
“We had to rush [Resonator] to get to the Breeder’s Plate, but Henry [Field] has been great in giving us the time to get him here today,” Bott said.
“[Resonator] is going to be a lovely horse for the Winter Carnival. I think he can get a bit further, and we will see him in a couple of stakes races in Queensland.”
