Gifted French filly Rose Bloom will be given the chance to supersede the near G1 successes of Princess Grace after becoming the latest import to be related to Australia by China Horse Club.

Rose Bloom, a runner-up in the G1 Prix Marcel Boussac at the end of last season, will join the stable of Chris Waller like the U.S. bred Princess Grace did in late 2022 and will be given her chance to make a positive first impression over the upcoming Sydney spring carnival but her real focus will be on 2025.

“Rose Bloom is a gorgeous and talented filly who has been exceptionally well handled by Nicolas Clement to date but the group racing programme for mares in Australia is very inviting and should suit her well,” said Mike Smith, China Horse Club’s Australian representative.

“By relocating her from France now, we will give Rose Bloom additional time to acclimatize ahead of the autumn, that’s a luxury Princess Grace never enjoyed. Chris [Waller] is certainly excited by her prospects. There should be a lot of upside in her still.”

Rose Bloom is the veteran of only seven career starts to date and has marked her talents by racing in group and stakes company in five of those seven appearances.

As a reference, Princess Grace had 14 races starts next to her name and was a season older when joining Waller’s Rosehill operation. In seven starts under his tutelage, she won the G3 Hawkesbury Crown and was narrowly touched in both the G1 Winx Stakes and G1 Memsie Stakes as well as the G2 Blazer Stakes.

“China Horse Club has an international focus and that allows us to reposition racing and breeding assets to best effect,” Smith added.

“From her first start Rose Bloom has shown she is highly talented and she will be a great asset to our Australian programme. Chris Waller handled Princess Grace impeccably well and was a logical choice when considering who could continue steering Rose Bloom on what we hope is a positive trajectory.”

Rose Bloom relocated to James Ferguson’s yard to prepare for quarantine in the UK before travelling to Australia on 1st October. She is pencilled in to make her Australian debut on The Everest undercard in either the AUD1,000,000 Silver Eagle (1300m) or AUD250,000 G3 Angst Stakes on 19th October.
