A La Victory and Zululand will bid to carry on a superlative start to the season for the China Horse Club in tomorrow’s $S500,000 (RMB2.3 million) G1 Singapore Guineas. Members of the club have won almost USD3 million (RMB18.5 million) in total prize money this calendar year as well as 19 races across racetracks of the world. All of this despite the European racing only just warming up and the season in China waiting to reach a gallop.

Success in tomorrow’s Singapore Guineas would not only build upon these achievements but would also bring up the club’s 10th individual G1 win since it began racing just over two years ago.

“We never expect to run in races of this calibre or to win races of the calibre, they are never easy to win off quality stables,” said Eden Harrington, General Manager of the China Horse Club.

“But we do aspire to have our members compete at this level and all of our team works hard to ensure that is the case. A La Victory and Zululand have had different journeys to reach this point in time but both are well and ready to represent the club and its members. It is a shame A La Victory has drawn poorly but he is a performer on the rise and hopefully he will have every chance to show what he is capable of.”

2015 has been a breakout season for The China Horse Club. It has celebrated three G1 wins, a G2 win and several G1 placings in Australia. It has started the European season with encouraging performances from a number of lightly raced runners, none more so than Hans Holbein who has qualified for the world’s most famous race, the Investec Derby, after winning the G3 Chester Vase last week. It has enjoyed G3 success in the United States and has won no less than eight races in Singapore.

“I thought there may be the chance of a slight dip off what was a stunningly successful year in 2014 when we won 47 races for our members including the Investec Derby, Irish Derby and Juddmonte International in a brilliantly exciting summer with the champion colt Australia. But I am delighted to be wrong and equally delighted that those who have become members in recent times are being rewards immediately. Our record is testament to our ability to put members into quality racehorses and to ensuring they have unforgettable experiences.”

A La Victory and Zululand will be headline a six strong China Horse Club assault on Singapore feature race weekend. Fellow China Horse Club runners include My Option, Wimbledon, Arrowhead and Victory Command (1st emergency in his race).
