A multi-year agreement has been formalized between the Australian Turf Club (ATC) and The Chase that will see the leading thoroughbred operation as the title sponsor for the ATC’s first G1 for the year – the $750,000 G1 The Chase Surround Stakes.

The G1 The Chase Surround Stakes is established as a measure of excellence for Australia’s very best three-year-old fillies. This year’s edition, held on Saturday 1st March 2025, will elevate a new star onto an honour roll of luminaries that includes Sunshine In Paris (2023), Probabeel (2020), First Seal (2015), More Joyous (2010) and Skating (1993).

“The Chase Surround Stakes is a highly-coveted Group 1 event for fillies and we are thrilled to have a well-established breeding and racing operation in The Chase as partners for the first time,’’  ATC Head Of Racing and Wagering Nevesh Ramdhani said.

“The Chase is proud to contribute to the industry through the G1 The Chase Surround Stakes, continuing a longstanding relationship our group has with the ATC through the China Horse Club both here and internationally,” said The Chase’s Mike Smith.

The Chase is a world class thoroughbred operation established to support the Australian breeding interests of the internationally recognized China Horse Club.

Located in the picturesque Southern Highlands of New South Wales, The Chase manages the China Horse Club’s breeding stock, foals and yearlings and consigns its thoroughbreds at Australia’s premier auctions.

Over the coming weeks The Chase is consigning exceptional drafts at the Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale and Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

The China Horse Club’s Australian division has bred elite individuals of the standing of Ozzmosis (1st G1 Coolmore Stud Stakes), Communist (1st G1 Randwick Guineas), Revolutionary Miss (G2 winner, multiple G1 placegetter), Dame Giselle (multiple G2 winner), Global Exchange (G2), Marine One (G2), Cannonball (G3), Equation (Listed), Giannis (Listed, G1 placed) and Perfect Proposal (Listed placed) outright or in partnership. Many have been bred, raised or sold by The Chase.
