Paths of Glory (Australia)
For the fourth weekend in the last five weeks China Horse Club has been greeted by racetrack success. The grit of Paths of Glory (Australia), the dash of Surf Dancer (Britain) and the effort of Requited (Australia) guaranteed a trio of winners for the Club as its tally of success rose to 12 in the last 31 days.
It has been a heady run of success for the international racing outfit who has gone no longer than eight days between wins.
“We have enjoyed a wonderful run with our stables especially in Britain and Australia in recent weeks and we enjoyed some success at the resumption of racing in Singapore as well so it is encouraging,” said Michael Wallace, China Horse Club’s Chief Operating Officer.
“What is important to take note of is that there is some talent surfacing and some seasoned performers who are returning to form. The win of Paths of Glory in Sydney on Saturday was very encouraging. He has taken a few runs to find his feet having transferred over from our UK stables
“Richard and Michael Freedman have him in a good space right now. Hopefully he can progress from his win. And Surf Dancer stepped up in class to score in listed company. That’s a great result, credit goes to successfully placing him in this event after two solid leadup runs.”
Matt Houldsworth, who oversees CHC’s UK operations, was understandably pleased with the result of Surf Dancer who has always demonstrated above average ability. The bay was tried in stakes company as a juvenile and was deserving of another tilt at black type under the right conditions.
Surf Dancer (Britain)
“This was a quick turnaround from his run at Newmarket [11th July] but he had been bouncing at home and hasn’t done much in the interim. We didn’t want to keep running him in handicaps, carrying top weight and being penalized for his consistency,” Houldsworth said.
“Surf Dancer is a genuine horse who needed to be given a chance and he gave his all once again. The drop back in distance suited him and Ryan [Moore] ensured he was in a good position just behind the speed and he put him into the race when he needed to. It was a wonderful ride and a great result.”
