Wandjina
Star colt Wandjina is in transit for Great Britain after departing Melbourne yesterday. The G1 winning three-year-old has pleased trainer Gai Waterhouse since his last start second to Dissident in the G1 All-Aged Stakes and all remains on track for Royal Ascot – Britain’s flagship carnival.
Waterhouse is delighted with the form of her crack performer who will be making the final start of his racing career in the G1 Golden Jubilee Stakes on 20th June.
“Wandjina looks extremely bright and he has just had a few easy days of trot and canter work. Overall the colt is in exceptionally good for,” the trainer said prior to his departure.
“His travelling attendees Steve O’Halloran and Dr John Walker will leave with the colt and I will also be flying out tomorrow to join him in Newmarket on Friday.”
Wandjina and fellow Australian raider, Brazen Beau, will fly from Melbourne to Singapore to Sharjah (fuel stop) to Britain and will be based at Newmarket in the weeks leading into the iconic carnival. The three-year-old’s ability to travel safely and will be paramount to his chances of further enhancing his reputation both as a racehorse and as a future stallion.

“All went very smoothly and Wandjina is now through Singapore and enroute to Sharjah (fuel stop) and then LHR.Overall the horses, together with IRT pro Groom Marty Craze and vet Dr John Walker, loaded without too much trouble,” said IRT’s Lachlan Ford.
“It is important regardless of whether it is a horse in competition or a family pet, you try and keep things as calm as possible to keep the horses in the same mind-set”
Wandjina will carry the interests of an elite ownership group including the China Horse Club. His participation at Royal Ascot in front of Her Royal Highness, The Queen, on the final day of the carnival ensures the CHC has competed at the three most significant international carnivals held to date in 2015, the Dubai World Cup Carnival, The Sydney Autumn Carnival’s Championship and now Royal Ascot.
