Survie
Survie has exited her determined performance in the €5,000,000 G1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe in good order and the brains trust of trainer Nicholas Clement, John Hammond (racing manager for Gerard Augustin-Normand) and Matt Houldsworth (China Horse Club’s European Representative) have already begun evaluating possibilities for 2025 with great positivity.
The lightly raced filly rose to the occasion against a field 10 G1 winners strong, to work home from near last at the top of the straight in the testing conditions to leave eight of the above mentioned G1 winners in her wake. While never a threat to the exceptional Bluestocking, Survie displayed an array of qualities required to deliver on the biggest of stages.
“Survie has come out of the Arc very well. She lost eight kilos, which is normal, she has a good appetite and is bright,” Clement said.
“We will close her season now and give her a good break. She will go to Coulonces in Normandie and Anna Sundstrom will look after her very well. She has previously looked after Rose Bloom for us.”
The Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe remains the world’s premier contest in the eyes of many and it may well be a target once again for Survie if she can progress in the manner her connections hope. As the veteran of only eight career starts, she has been generously handled and is well placed to reward such patience.
“Survie has a number of black type entries in her pedigree already. She’s a G2 winner, second in the French Oaks and next year we will be hunting for a G1,” Clement added.
“The Prix Jean Romanet at Deauville in mid-August will be a target and should suit her well and maybe we can then shape up for the second half of the season like we did this year, she will tell us.”
