Bases Loaded was an AUD400,000 Inglis Easter Yearling
The aptly named Bases Loaded became the seventh individual juvenile winner for CHC Australia this season, in the process leading a trio of international winners for the club over the weekend.
Bases Loaded’s success at Sydney’s Kensington Racetrack on Friday evening was followed by imposing wins with Talk of the Nation at Tampa Bay (Florida) and Kingdom Come at Britain’s Kempton Park.
Talk of the Nation left no one in doubt over his capabilities when pulling clear for a four length win in an Optional Claiming race while Kingdom Come posted his second successive triumph when streeting rivals by a widening six lengths.
“It is a banner year so far with our juvenile team and Bases Loaded is appropriately named. He’s the seven individual winner of ten races to date,” said Mike Smith, China Horse Club’s Australasian Representative.”
“We will give him his chance in the G2 Skyline Stakes and see if he can take that next step. Hopefully he can continue to keep the red and gold silks in the winner’s circle.”
Similar sentiment is held for the lightly raced duo Kingdom Come and Talk of the Nation.
“Kingdom Come has won both his starts this year after a long break and that was a fantastic performance and franked the potential he has always hinted at,” said Matt Houldsworth, China Horse Club’s European Representative.
“He has come through that win very well and we will up our sights with him. Hopefully he can continue on his trajectory and we will see if we can develop him into a performer who may justify a tilt at Royal Ascot.”
Talk of the Nation has won two of his three career starts and posted the most comprehensive of his wins to date when successfully transitioning from dirt to turf.
“Talk of the Nation showed his preference for turf and was a dominant performer. If he can continue on his trajectory he may make a stakes class horse,” said Christie DeBernardis, China Horse Club (America’s) Representative.
“Talk of the Nation has come through that win well and we will sit down with Shug McGaughey and see where we place him next.”
