Roger Varian is the newest trainer to join the China Horse Club’s ranks. The leading British trainer has already won eight G1 races and a further 38 stakes races since taking out his license and now oversees a series of the China Horse Club’s unraced two-year-olds in Britain.

Roger oversees a team of unraced juveniles for the China Horse Club. In the coming weeks the China Horse Club will provide an update on the progress of its performers to help members and followers become more familiar with its unraced and lightly raced thoroughbreds from China and around the world.
Roger has kindly offered his comments on how four of the club’s young performers are progressing under his care.
China Dream (Dream Ahead X Tiger Spice colt)
China Dream (Dream Ahead X Tiger Spice colt)
Roger: “This colt is progressing well at this stage. He is a definite athlete with a good action. He moves with ease during his canter exercise although he is yet to be ‘opened up’ in his work. I anticipate him being ready to race during the summer without putting an exact date on that yet.”

Roger: “This colt has had a smooth training period during his time with me. He has looked professional from the start. He carries himself well and has a lovely action. He has athletic qualities that we want to see and I am encouraged how he goes at this stage. As his pedigree suggests he will get better with age.”

Roger: “This is an attractive colt. He is not an early summer colt and will take time to come to hand. He is straightforward in manner and he moves well.”
Fastnet Rock X Up At Dawn filly
Roger: “This filly is currently spelling with Di Turner at Lodge Farm. She is more of a three-year-old type and so needs some more time in order to strengthen into her frame. She is athletic and has the makings of a nice filly for the future. I will look to bring her back into training in June.”
