“It has been a fantastic day for our guests and for the club. We had guests here from China, Germany, Australia, Malaysia and from Singapore and it has been wonderful to share a great event with them. Tropaios gave everyone a great thrill in the Longines Singapore Gold Cup and had everyone thinking ‘what if’ at the top of the straight when he was making his run,” said Eden Harrington, General Manager of the China Horse Club.
“Credit must go to the Singapore Turf Club for putting on a wonderful day and to Longines for not only supporting elite thoroughbred racing but for continuing to work to give back to the community by supporting charitable causes like Rainbow Centre. The China Horse Club is delighted to have played a small role in supporting Rainbow Centre and commends all those who participated in the day.” More than S$240,000 was raised for Rainbow Centre – Margaret Drive School, a program supported by Community Chest that assists students with special needs. This contribution continues a long standing contribution to charitable funds by Longines since it began sponsoring this day and the Gold Cup in 2010. Longines is the pre-eminent supporting of elite thoroughbred racing and is an Official Partner of the China Horse Club and its showpiece China Equine Cultural Events in China. The support of leading Singaporean government figures at the Singapore Turf Club demonstrated the understanding of the contribution of the sport of thoroughbred racing to charity and to the wider community. On 22nd February 2015 the China Horse Club will be hosting the richest race ever run in Singapore when the inaugural CECF Singapore is hosted. The race day will be a defining occasion during a high profile festival held during Chinese New Year.
