Fuelled by its ownership in some of Australia’s most in demand stallions, China Horse Club moved with purpose to bolster its broodmare portfolio on the opening day of the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale. The emphasis was on speed and to that end it was mission accomplished with the acquisition of stakes winning sprinters Ballistic Lover and Ecumenical. A third mare, the regally bred Nor Izzati, was also secured.

“Ballistic Lover and Ecumenical were exceptional racehorses who could carry speed and they are important additions to our operation as part of our ongoing investment in Australia,” said Mike Smith, China Horse Club’s Australian Representative.

Ecumenical

“Ballistic Lover has an exceptional physical, she was very fast and she has a pedigree that can throw stallions with Lean Mean Machine, Love Conquers All and Hitotsu all under her first three dams. She ran an exceptional fourth in the G1 Moir to our own Wild Ruler last spring and was really building a CV for herself when she was injured.

“Ecumenical has been an exceptionally tough and versatile group winner. You don’t find many performers who can be group winners at two over 1200m, group placed at three a mile and also competitive up to 2000m in G1 company.

Nor Izzati Nor Izzati

“And Nor Izzati is a wonderful style of a mare, by a champion sire, out of a G1 winning mare who has already thrown a stakes winner. I liked Norzita’s yearling by The Autumn Sun at Easter this year and it resonates that Nor Izzati carries the Think Big Stud brand of the late Dato Tan Chin Nam who China Horse Club has been close to since its inception.”

All three mares are possible matches to Extreme Choice, Zoustar and Russian Revolution and are long term acquisitions.
