Valiance
Valiance, the gorgeous G1 winning mare instrumental to launching China Horse Club’s breeding operations in the United States, is set to be sold next month at Fasig-Tipton’s showpiece November Sale (9th November 2021).
The grey mare is expected to be one of the most sought after lots at a sale renowned for its commercial appeal. Valiance is the owner of an impeccable pedigree and saluted at the highest level in 2020 when annexing the G1 Spinster Stakes before an ever game second in the G1 Breeders’ Cup Distaff.
“Valiance is a rare commodity,” said Fasig-Tipton President and CEO Boyd Browning Jr upon announcing the sale of Valiance.
“She’s a grade 1 winner, her dam is a grade 1 winner, and her granddam is a grade 1 winner. In addition, she’s by [multiple champion sire] Tapit and a beautiful individual. Her potential as a broodmare is unlimited.”
Valiance, who raced for owners Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners, Martin Schwartz, and China Horse Club, will be consigned by Bluewater Sales who proudly sold her for USD650,000 as a yearling at the 2017 Saratoga Sale. Bluewater Sales also sold Kimari, winner of the 2021 G1 Madison Stakes, for China Horse Club and most recently a striking Into Mischief x Embellish The Lace filly at the 2021 Keeneland September Yearling Sale. Spendthrift Farm won a sustained bidding duel to secure the filly for USD1,250,000 – the highest price for a daughter of Into Mischief and the second highest price for a filly over the entire sale.
“Valiance is a top-class race mare and a terrific individual,” said Hall of Fame trainer Todd Pletcher said.
“She’s always been a true professional to train in the morning and was so versatile on the racetrack in the afternoon. She’s a good one.”
Co-owner Aron Wellman, Preside of Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners, was equally emphatic in his assessment of Valiance: “Valiance was a stunning yearling with a royal pedigree and she followed through on the racetrack. She trained with brilliance, ran with brilliance on turf and dirt at the highest level, and provided our partners with huge thrills. She’s a rare filly who had impeccable breeding, gorgeous looks, immeasurable talent, and that intangible killer instinct to win her races. She is an elite mare who offers the complete package and she is cut out to be an exceptional broodmare.”
Valiance is a daughter of Last Full Measure, winner of the 2013 G1 Madison Stakes. Last Full Measure currently has a Constitution colt on the ground and is back in foal to the same sire again.
