 Iotapa

Exquisite race mare Iotapa and high profile broodmare Last Full Measure were among the most sought after individuals on the open day of trading at Keeneland’s famous November Breeding Stock Sale and their acquisition by the CHC is testament to its commitment to greater involvement in the United States. The duo, both G1 winners were the headline acts among a total of nine purchases made across the Fasig Tipton November Sale and the first day of the Keeneland November Sale.

Iotapa, a G1 winner at Del Mar in California is a model of consistency winning six of her 14 career starts and placing a further seven times including a last start third in the USD2 million Longines Breeders’ Cup Distaff last weekend.

Last Full Measure was a four time winner and four time placegetter in an 11 start career with her triumph in the G1 Madison Stakes the highlight. As a G1 winning daughter of a G1 winner in foal to a champion stallion in War Front it was no surprise Last Full Measure was targeted by some of the leading breeder across America.

Joining them as new CHC acquisition are:

  • Parranda: G2 winner and multiple G1 placed race mare than has shown herself adept on turf, dirt and synthetic surfaces
  • Bajan: Stakes winner and G1 placed filly that has had a big year in 2014
  • Cozze Up Lady: G3 winner and multiple graded stakes winner that has been in career best form in late 2014
  • Who is Camille: A young stakes winner in foal to star stallion Malibu Moon.
  • D’Oro Princess: A well-bred young mare in foal to Kentucky Derby winner Orb.
  • Dundalk Dust: A G2 winner in foal to More Than Ready
  • Sugar House: A young winning daughter of a G1 winner in foal to quality sire Bernardini

“The China Horse Club has long been monitoring the US marketplace and the opportunity to expand our racing and breeding interests here is timely,” said Eden Harrington, General Manager of the CHC.

“We have been fortunate to secure some exceptional racing fillies and mares and young in foal mares for our racing and breeding programs respectively. We will determine the most suitable program for each of these horses but it is highly exciting to add talent of this standing to our teams.

“A number of the mares in foal will venture to Ireland to be covered by Australia who has provided the club and its members with such an exciting journey. We want that journey to continue.”
