Dame Giselle lead to win the AUD200,000 G2 Silver Shadow Stakes (1200m) at Royal Randwick last week

China Horse Club has been honoured with its first breeders award with Dame Giselle singled out as the winner of the Hunter Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association Champion 2YO Filly for 2019/20. The Australian based award recognizes the best performers bred in the Hunter Valley across a series of age and sex-based racing divisions as well as leading stallions that are based in the NSW breeding industry epicentre.

Dame Giselle, who was bred at Sledmere Stud by China Horse Club, was recognized for her triumph in the AUD300,000 G2 Reisling Stakes, the premier leadup for fillies to the time-honoured Golden Slipper.

“This award is a tremendous honour for the China Horse Club and all the staff involved with the Club. It is also recognition for the team at Sledmere Stud headed by Royston and Catriona Murphy where she was bred, for Sir Owen Glenn and his operation as well as for Snowden Racing who have handled her racing career,” said Michael Wallace, Chief Operating Officer, of the China Horse Club.

“Dame Giselle was always a filly we held in high regard from the time she was born and she has continued to deliver on our weighty expectations. We wish to thank the HTBA for their support of these wonderful awards and to CopRice for sponsoring Dame Giselle’s award.”

Dame Giselle returned to racing a winner last month when annexing the G2 Silver Shadow Stakes and will look to build further on her profile when she takes her place in the AUD200,000 Darley Furious Stakes in Sydney this weekend.
