World's Top 20 RH-r1

The independent website, Horse Racing Planet, has released its latest rankings of the world’s top 20 horses, with the China Horse Club featuring prominently through the appearance of two U.S. based performers.

Improbable and Tiz The Law are part of the compendium of elite racehorses which have been drawn across different jurisdictions, from varied age and distance categories and across varying racing surfaces. The table is a “Who’s Who” of stars and reiterates the Club’s standing as a premium racing entity having previously leapt to international awareness through the deeds of U.S. based performers Justify (2018 U.S. Triple Crown) and Abel Tasman (2017 Kentucky Oaks & Eclipse Award winner).

“As we head into the fall months it’s exciting to plan and follow the progress of two great colts in Improbable and Tiz the Law,” said Michael Wallace, Chief Operating Office, of the China Horse Club.

“The first we race with partners and the second we were fortunate enough to secure the breeding rights to with Coolmore. As we head into the back end of the year, I wouldn’t swap our position with anyone.”

Improbable’s resurgence as a four-year-old has been unmissable in the United States. After an encouraging return to racing, the striking chestnut has posted back-to-back G1 wins on different sides of the country. Improbable’s dominance of the G1 Hollywood Gold Cup at Santa Anita (California) in June was reflected in an all the way triumph by more than three lengths.

That performance was topped off at the famed Saratoga meet earlier this month when he raced away from some of the best older horses in the country to add his moniker to the honour roll of the G1 Whitney Stakes no less.

Those two performances cemented Improbable’s ranking among the top 20 performers in world racing right now and among a shortlist of four elite runners from the United States. The other three US based runners on Horse Racing Planet’s list are Maximum Security, Tiz The Law and Gamine.

The rise and rise of Tiz The Law’s has been spectacular in 2020. While the Barclay Tagg trained performer stamped his excellence as a juvenile in 2019 with a four-length triumph in the G1 Champagne Stakes, his trajectory in his classic year has been meteoric.

While the global pandemic has seen a recalibration of the running order of many high-profile races, Tiz The Law has continued on a march, building a curriculum vitae of real purpose. Tiz The Law has won his four starts to date as a three-year-old by a combined 16.5 lengths. The nearest a rival has come to him this season is three lengths. His dominance has been so prominent, so undoubted, that it appears that bad luck or injury is his biggest risk of not joining recent superstars Justify and American Pharaoh as a U.S. Triple Crown hero. It is little wonder that he is currently ranked the world’s leading three-year-old.
